Hi
I’m trying to save a pdf file in InDesign as printer spreads. Meaning that it can be folded and stapled when printed.
Anyone know how to do this?
I followed instructions that I got from google, but it makes my Id freeze and crash.
Any suggestions?
I need to send the file tonight
Try file, print booklet, and choose pdf as your printer.

That’s so nice of you. It’s a lot to send though.
The booklet is 50 pages. Could that be why it’s freezing?
If it’s for people to print at home, the best would probably be to save it as individual pages, (I’m assuming you’re pages are 5.5x8.5), as most people don’t have fancy printers for bifold and stapling.
The booklets that I get emailed to me are usually like that.

Agreed.
I can try to convince them…
I wish there was a way that I can just do what they want and move on

I’m pretty sure you can do
File - export - select PDF - and there is an option to save it as pages or spreads - select spreads and export
for printing from a reg printer, you usually would export as pages and set up as a booklet from the printer settings. See this screenshot:
If they are printing it on their own in the school then I think you need to export as single pages (not spreads) and they would need to set it up correctly as a booklet in the printing options. They can always check the preview to see if it is setting up correctly.
