Hi. Whats the best way to go about making small to medium size changes on a website without working on a live site?

duplicate the page (with a simple plugin), work on the copy and when you are ready push that one live to over write the existing page. Depending on the changes, you might just work on the live page…

Also i think this client had elementor pro and isn’t paying for it anymore. is it important to keep renewing the subscription?

i think that yes. things can break if they are not updated and its not secure

Re messing things up, it really depends what you’re doing! If you’re making changes that are isolated to just that page, it’s unlikely you’ll mess things up. If you need to work with CSS or larger scale changes, ideally you should make a duplicate of the site. Did you watch the class on staging? That would tell you more.
