What would my job options be if I’m not looking to open my own design firm?

There are a myriad of options. If you like computer work, you can focus on creating drawings for designers in AutoCad or Revit, or join a Kitchen design firm, where you can create kitchen designs. You can also focus on space planning, and draw up plans accordingly.
You can work in an interior design firm assisting other interior designers. You could also work in a furniture or tile showroom as a designer, assisting customers with their choices. If you enjoy color, you can work as a color specialist, helping clients choose appropriate colors for their projects.
Other options:
-go into business with one or two other designers
-home staging
-focus specifically on space planning (that is a niche too!)
