If they have a wordpress website and are looking to have someone take responsibility to maintain the website, what would be a normal monthly fee for this?

Monthly maintenance can run between $25-100 / month. Depends what they need you to do. Just keep up to date, or deal with content, make changes etc.
Before taking on a website (which you didnt build) check the backend and see if its worth it for you. Some sites are just a mess and will only cause you problems… (old plugins, outdated versions, etc)

The amount of changes they need is also a big point.
You might want to give them a trial run of, say, 3 months at one fee with an expectation that you’ll reassess afterward.
