Website design- Mood boards

How do you create your mood boards? I’ve noticed that many of my clients find it challenging to understand the traditional mood board, which includes mockups of the hero section, assets, colors, typography, and images. Do you have any ideas on how to simplify this for clients who have little to no design understanding?

A designer I work shows the clients a bunch of websites to see what style they like, and she designs 2-3 versions of the top 2-3 sections of the website. It’s much easier for clients to conceptualize.

I do what @peninah_adler said.
First I show some links to different websites or sections, make sure the different styles are very clear and distinct so they can see the different styles you are presenting.
If the moodboard links are very clear and obvious of the different styles then it should be very on target

Would you have a list of various websites with different design styles that you use?

It should vary based on the client + industry. But there are places to go for inspiration – Awwwards, siteinspire.com, I’m sure there are more like that!
