Scaling Text

Hi, what does it mean when you create a dimension 1-50 or any number

Your drawing will be printed at 1:50 scale (1 unit on paper = 50 units in real life).

Since we can’t print everything at full (real) size, we use a scale in a viewport (on a layout) to make the drawing fit on the paper.

Dimensions (text size) must still look readable on the paper, so you set the dimension text height based on the scale to make sure it appears the right size when printed.

Example:

If you want the text to look like 2.5 mm high on paper at 1:50 scale, you set the text height in model space to:

2.5 × 50 = 125 units high

This way, when you scale it down in the viewport (1:50), it prints at the correct height.
