Invoicing/online payments

How would you suggest to collect payment from clients? Using credit cards (not checks or mobile payments).

I’ve been looking into Stripe, I like their invoicing feature but I’d love to know what are the tried and true methods everyone’s using. Thanks!

There are a bunch of invoicing tools that integrate with Stripe/similar and can help with accounting. Harvest, Freshbooks, Wave Apps (I think that’s free!). GreenInvoice if you’re in Israel.

Thanks! With Stripe, I need to have registered as an LLC (if I’m not mistaken) and I don’t think I’m ready for that. Is this something I must do to collect online payments or are there alternatives?

There is a credit card processor Square you can use without being registered as an LLC (Square | Solutions For Your Small, Medium & Large Business)
Or you can go with PayPal, they accept credit cards.
If you are registered as a business Fidelity has a great plan (CardKnox) for small business owners. I worked with Elisha Zeiger (elishaz@fidelitypayment.com) on this. He was very patient and helpful and its a great plan with no monthly or annual fees for someone just starting out.

I use Stripe without an LLC and have been happy.
Haven’t personally compared it to other softwares, although I do know that others are happy with Wave or Square.

@Chana , can you tell me more about using Cardknox? How much of a percentage do they take? And how do you accept payment, does it integrate with anything?

@peninah_adler the rates for this plan are 2.9% and .30 cents per transaction.
You will also have the ability to ACH from your clients at a rate of 1%. There is a very specific limit per month and per transaction so it’s only good for small businesses. I send clients the link to my page, you can email elishaz@fidelitypayment.com if you have questions about specifics, he’s very helpful. Its a great plan for my needs!

Thanks!
That rate is the same as Stripe and Paypal. I use Harvest which allows Stripe ACH payments for a flat rate of $5. And I use wise.com when clients pay in alternate currencies.
