Hi everyone. I just finished a job for a client and after sending him the files in jpg and pdf (in 2 different colors) with text that he requested to add the last minute, he now wants the files in svg format. He also requested the background as a separate image. Is there an additional charge?
The original price was for an illustration only. For the future, how many formats and what do I include in the price? And how do I save the files in svg? I don’t have that option in Photoshop export.
Hi, I don’t charge for multiple file formats. It usually only takes a couple minutes to save a file as a PDF and JPEG. But you are allowed to charge however you’d like. In the future you can put in the fine print a $ amount for each additional file format.
SVG stands for scalable vector graphics. For that: you would have to transfer the image to illustrator and image trace it and then save it as SVG. I would charge more for this because at that point you are not only saving it as a different file but you are also editing the actual image. The image will look a little different this way, and you should let him know that. If he needs to use the image in the size that you drew it he should use the PDF or JPEG. if he needs to scale it much larger than he should use the SVG format.
