Hi,
I assume I’m not the only one out there who has a bunch of clients, each of whom needs work now and then, and that sometimes you find yourself “between jobs” when none of your clients seem to need anything…
Does anyone have any ideas on how to attract new clients and/or grow your group of recurring clients to help fill in that time? I’d love to hear about it!
Thanks!
Hi-
I want to bump up this topic! Any advice?
This is a question that everyone probably wonders about! Best is always word of mouth, that one client will refer another. Maybe you can an offer an incentive to current clients if they refer you to a new one, such as a discount or a free design piece. Obviously advertising is another option. If you don’t want to pay or pay much, there are some free resources as well. Many communities have Google Groups or facebook pages that you can advertise on. Of course it is good to advertise in your own community, but you could join groups of other communities as well. You need to find out what is available in your community. Even Craig’s list could be a viable option, you could check the posts of people looking for design projects and you can put your own posts. Of course you have to be careful with who you are dealing with, taking a percentage of the payment upfront through Paypal etc., but I know plenty of designers that get work from Craig’s list. Another idea might be to do a “volunteer” design during your down time, for a community organization, a shul, school, etc…something that would be distributed to many people. You could do that in exchange for “free” advertising, putting your info on the design that you created, including a business card in mailings, advertising in a school newsletter, something like that.
I think this is a great question that many people wonder about, so hope to see more posts!
