Hi! I’ve been doing research about salaries for graphic designers in different settings, and I’m having a very hard time coming up with real numbers. I checked past posts discussing this topic but no one mentioned any numbers. Can anyone be brave enough to share a salary or even a range of what people are being paid for working as a graphic designer at a company?? I’m wondering about different types of companies and what the difference would be in salary- working for a marketing firm, working for a private company as their designer, working for a school or organization… Please share and let us know if this is full time/part time, NY/NJ or out of town, how many years experience, as many details as you feel comfortable sharing. This information would really be helpful to so many. Thank you!!!
I work for someone using the white labeling system. The rate is 20$ an hour. I think this more of a beginner hourly rate.
It would be a real help to learn what the going rate is in different places.
I would love it if prices for freelancers for different varies projects can be addressed as well.
@weiss4155 what location is it?
I am located in Monsey, NY - I work full time at a graphics office and I started out $25 an hour for the first year. During that first year, I charged almost double for freelance - about $45 an hour but I always gave clients a set amount (in my head I cheshboned how long it should take me approximately and added on a little more for revisions…etc.)

Someone once mentioned a rate of 80 NIS / hour in Israel.
Set jobs/meaning salary jobs will generally be less, whereas freelance jobs are generally priced ± $50 per hour.
I am not a fan of pricing per hour (for freelancing) but rather figuring out about how long a project will take you and setting a price for it. otherwise as time goes on and you get quicker you are punishing yourself for making less per project.
I was job hunting in Lakewood with 1 years experience and was offered from about $25-40 an hour in marketing agencies. I know it would be more in some private companies as in-house designer, ie healthcare company. My impression is that NY salaries are generally a bit higher than NJ. I lived in EY before this and salaries are generally a bit lower.
