If I see a font (alphabets display font vector) that I like on shutterstock, is there a way to get ahold of the actual font?
Maybe my question isn’t clear.
Are those gorgeous fonts on Shutterstock just there to tease you? Or is there a way to buy them?

It’s just a tease.
There is no way to actually access the font. You can play around with it and use any part of the image that you want as you would with any other vector.
oh well 
Maybe you can make it into a font
I think there are programs where you can do that
