Drawing Tablets

Hi,

Anyone have experience with using a drawing tablet for graphic design? (without screen/ display)

Wondering if it’s easier/ more accurate/ more convenient to use a pen like that instead of a computer mouse… or if it’s not worth the hassle

Thanks so much!

I use it for initial drawings and shading for sure but when it comes to nitty gritty editing I find it easier to use a mouse. I only use it for illustrations though.

Thanks, interesting and helpful to hear!

Anyone else has experience with this?

I have a wacom tablet. Someone I know uses hers instead of a mouse for everything on her computer and loves it which is why I bought one. (She also uses it in photoshop a lot for editing pictures.) Personally I haven’t really used it much maybe I didn’t give myself enough time to fully get used to it. If you do a lot of drawing in illustrator I would definitely recommend as it is easier to control. There are dots instead of a screen so you can draw straightish etc. For regular layout don’t know how much you’d really benefit. So far because I work on a laptop it is just another thing to carry and take out. Thanks for the question, I think I will have to try it out again  and maybe I will use it more.

Thanks so much for your response, @Rivka !
Sounds like a tablet can be really useful!

I have a Huion drawing tablet with a screen. It comes very handy when I need to illustrate or photoshop very detailed pictures. I can’t imagine using one without a screen, but people do.
