I work with Chinese manufacturers, and they always ask me for an ai format for my box designs, but I design my boxes in photoshop. I usually save it as a pdf, and then open it in illustrator and save it in that format, but then they complain that it’s not good. If I just open the psd file in ai without saving as pdf in between, some things jump around when they open it…
Does anyone have any experience with this?
When you send die lines to Chinese factories they always have to be in vector format. If you show me the box your working with, I can see if i have a die line for you in illustrator. I do packaging design so I have many many die lines if you need.
They usually send me the template. But when I send them the file they say that they can’t remove the lines, so I send it without lines… How can I send it in editable format?
Do you make the design in illustrator?
When i set up my own files i usually use illustrator, but I sometimes work with templates and they could be Photoshop files.
Any way how to go about it then so it should be vector files?
Images should be worked with in Photoshop, but according to what we learned in the packaging module, final package design should be vector.
So place your photoshop images into Illustrator if you need images as part of the design…
