I am re-creating an ad that my sister once had made so that i can use it for my portfolio.
Any thoughts on the ad?
And is the top part too similar to the original and any thoughts on how I could change it?
(mine is the top one. the second one with the gradient writing etc is the original ad)

I don’t know if its appropriate to put copied work into your portfolio… its more for practice
i agree with malky somewhat - unless your sister can actually use your ad?
you are matching her previous branding so i would not call this copying exactly
Why don’t you come up new wording/new concept?

The design is really nice! though the main concept of the design is not your own that’s not really proffesional practice…
