How do I export my pdf from Illustrator so that if my client has Illustrator and he opens it he can’t edit it or is there a way to make it as one solid piece? (I tried saving it with the box unchecked by preserve Illustrator editing… and when I opened the pdf in Illustrator I was able to edit the logo and it had all the layers)
Then I tried saving the logo as a png and jpeg from Illustrator it came out very blurry, and advice on that.
What size should my document size be when sending the final logo, any specific size?
interesting that unchecking preserve illustrator editing capabilities still allowed layers…
rasterize text…
not sure how to make it one solid piece apart from grouping or using the shape tool to blend the parts manually.
but what’s so bad if a client can edit it? most clients do not have illustrator anyway… and if they are paying you a proper logo rate why cant they do what they want with it? i’d hate to have my client dependant on me in years to come should they need a logo adjustment…
i like sending a range of files for logos like .png for online use and .jpegs as well as .pdf and .eps
i normally start with an A4/letter size as my artboard size… but as it’s a vector it shouldn’t really matter
If you want to make it one solid piece, open a new document and copy your logo, then select the whole thing and merge it using the pathfinder tool. Make sure you do it on a new document cuz you don’t want to lose editing capability if you have divided shapes.
Also, if you save as an AI pdf that means they can edit. If you don’t want that, export it as a pdf (I think, someone correct me if I got that wrong).
When saving as a png or jpg you should select it and export selection instead of just exporting the art board.
I hope this is helpful!
I also agree that it’s ok for the client to be able to edit if he wants, he’s paying you enough anyways. And odds are he doesn’t have the program for it.
I find that saving to PNG from a PDF makes it come out the clearest. I use this site for that.
