Does anyone have any experience with doing monograms?
Trying to do something for a client, they have lots of letters and want it to be in the shape of something, fiddle or flower… How do I get an idea of what to do? Already spent so many hours trying to come up with something, sent her multiple samples but nothing seems good…
I’m not experienced much, but I usually outline the letters or shapes and try to arrange them all different ways. Good luck!
try typing the letters in tonz of different fonts and play with spacing to see if you can find any shapes already in the letters
The monograms I’ve done, I chose clipart images, and I fit the letters into the image or I used the image as an additional
design. I also found it helpful to use pencil before doing on illustrator. (I printed the clipart image, then traced it the good ol’ fashioned way.)
@yocheved-d this is so cool! But you probably have to be really artistic to do monograms…
Thanks! If it helps, here is an image that you might be able to somehow replace some parts with letters.
Monograms are usually done by an illustrator not designer
Thanks all for your help! Will see if I somhow manage now, if not I’ll just tell her to ask someone else
I’ve done a few samples of flowers, maybe it’s of help.
Also I downloaded a music dingbats font and a flowers dingbats and looked at what I was able to work with within the font
wow thanks all for being so helpfull!
@fgoldberg what are dingbats?
@pixelandgrace can see on your work that its your favourite
attached are some of the samples that I sent them.
The letters are ד (main), א (chosson), הפי (kalleh)
and now what they would like it to look like
just thinking that maybe they already asked someone else. She told me she’s gonna let me know how she wants to continue.
Dingbats are picture fonts- instead of letters it has a picture like font ‘Wingdings’
these are really nice! Even if she doesn’t like them- you did a really good job!!
Yes, You’ve done an excellent job! Well done!
