Margins for Book Layout

Hi!

I’m laying out text for a book. I’m trying to figure out what size to make the margins. The book is 16cm x 23cm and it’ll probably be around 300 pages (maybe a little more or a little less). What size margins would you recommend?

I did a similar sized book with 1.27cm (0.5in) outer margins and 1.905cm (0.75cm) inner margins but after it was printed, I felt like the margins were too small.

Thank you so much!

Thats a basic standard size Jewish book (so measure any jewish book you like the size of.
Typically i use 1.8 cm inside margins and 2.3 cm outside margins.Hope this helps

Thank you so much! I had thought that the inner margins were suppose to be bigger than the outer margins.

nope. remember there are 2 of them (either side of spine) so they give the impression of a larger space on a double-page even though you lose some space in the spine.

Oh! Thanks! I thought the inner margins had to be bigger so the words in the middle are easier to read.
