For those trying to “understand” it in a one line- Ai is generate by creating prompts which allow the program/computer to follow through with those prompts on its vast database and bring up the what it feels is the best match.
For example I’ll post a picture below, this was created through prompting: anthropologic teddy bear, wearing a vest, wearing glasses, reading a newspaper on a desk with Jerusalem skyview in the bay window

It is a amazing (and a bit freaky) what technology could do…
I did that image on MidJourney which is run using the discord platform.
There is also stable diffusion and dall-E
There are some smaller ones like dreamlike.art/create which is free and also creates very nice images like these here
