Help with very large images and files

Hi!

Does anyone have any advice for designing very large files- over 40 ft wide- and dealing with high quality images? My programs are not handling them and are giving me trouble saving the files.

Any ideas?

only that when working on large formats you should ask the printer what resolution they require. sometimes it does not need to be 300 dpi if it’s going to be read from a distance. when you look at huge billboards close up you will see they are very pixely!

just googled and saw this but def check with the printer:
If you’re designing something that is going to be held in someone’s hand (like a brochure or flyer) then the correct DPI is 300dpi. If you need to you can probably get away with 250dpi.

A poster needs a minimum resolution of about 100dpi if viewed at 6ft (2m).

Viewed at 30ft (10m) a billboard needs a minimum resolution of about 20dpi.

Thank you! I reduced the resolution to 150 and now it works BH!
